Surprise Demo for Tron: Catalyst Delivers Preview of Upcoming Cyber-Adventure
To build excitement, Bithell Games recently dropped a demo for their upcoming title, Tron: Catalyst. The demo is only available on Steam, giving players an early taste of the gameplay and story before the game launches on June 17, 2025.
Tron: Cyber Catalyst is the next entry in the Tron universe and was developed by Bithell Games, which is known for titles like John Wick Hex and Tron: Identity. Unlike Tron: Identity, which was a visual novel, Tron: Catalyst is more action-oriented. The game features isometric combat and will explore the Arq Grid, a digital space introduced in Tron: Identity. Players will take on the role of Exo, a courier program. After the explosion of a mysterious package, Exo gains new abilities and accidentally causes a chain reaction that will threaten the stability of the Grid.
In the demo, players get to sample both on-foot combat and Light Cycle segments. The demo also displays a dynamic combat system that includes melee attacks, parrying, and the use of Identity Discs. Players will also collect Data Shards, which can be used to unlock new abilities as the story progresses, allowing Exo to become more powerful.
At the moment the demo is only available for PC users via Steam, with no plans or announcements to expand demos to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or Nintendo Switch. This exclusivity could wonderfully impact the game’s reach to console players.
From a technical standpoint, the game runs nicely on Steam Deck, running at a solid 60 FPS. The 16:10 aspect ratio has been an issue with various parts of the screen. If not fixed beforecut off the full release, it could inhibit the gaming experience on a few devices.
The purpose of the Tron: Catalyst demo is rather strategic, primarily to foster excitement, consider early feedback, and correct any issues before an official launch.
